The sudden "revelation" that Vince McMahon was allegedly in charge of and gave his wholehearted approval to basically running a prostitution ring is just another day at the water cooler for those who know the inside story.
Read carefully and grasp the reality.
This is the same manner of doing business that for years permeated the NFL, NBA, the IOC, numerous college athletic programs around the country (again focusing on football and men's basketball), FIFA and numerous other sports leagues that were little more than boys clubs for the wealthy and entitled.
Here's another, and this is what you need to keep in mind.
Every single member of the media that covered these sports and these organizations knew about it. They knew all about the cash payments under the table, the drugs being bandied about, the human trafficking of sex workers, the abuse of women for the pleasure of the men in charge, and the wanton greed that permeated every corner of the sport.
Nothing was said. Why? Because the media fell into 2 groups. One was the faction that leered and loved every second of it because they were taking part in the money, the drugs and the sex. The other was the faction who said nothing under duress and threat of losing their media credential and thus, losing their job. Both pockets were filled with threats and promises of retribution if a single word was written or spoken.
How do I know this? Because my credentials were threatened several times by these teams and leagues. I would lose all access if I said a word.
I'm ashamed of my failures back then, and ashamed of the current spate of media who still say nothing because it's the criminality of "business as usual".
